During 2011 The Cornucopia Committee was again encouraged by two things:
1. The amazing support of our sponsors and supporters who helped us raise $110,000.00 for child protection;
and
2. Hearing from the Child Protection Units and CAPS about the way in which receiving a donation from Cornucopia is providing vital assistance within their units helping children and families pull their lives back after experiencing the horror of abuse.
Our Committee members heard recounts of children progressing through therapy using paint on canvass to come to realise that they were not at fault by being abused and this same therapy helps move them beyond the abuse and look towards a positive future. Something seemly so simple, yet so amazingly effective.
CAPS use of donated funds enabled counselors to give face to face, in home and hands on assistance, help set up a library and resource centre in addition to supporting the invaluable telephone hotline 1800 688 009.
Cornucopia funds support The Royal Hospital for Women Foundation providing care to defenseless babies born drug addicted before they even take their first breath.
The volunteer members of Cornucopia will continue their fundraising into 2012 and beyond and look forward to your continued support. There are sponsorship opportunities available and details can be found under “sponsorship” on this web site. Please mark your calendar now to attend Swifts Soiree on Thursday 15 March, 2012.
We look forward to a successful fundraising year in 2012 where your support helps us help the children. If only one child recovers from the cycle of abuse, the fight is worth the battle.
